Curriculum Overview
Anand Niketan Shilaj offers a comprehensive curriculum that balances academic rigor with creative expression. Our programs are designed to prepare students for the ICSE (Grades 1-10) and ISC (Grades 11-12) examinations while fostering a love for learning and a curiosity that drives lifelong education.
ICSE Program (Grades 1-10)
The ICSE curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Languages. Our approach emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of concepts, preparing students for the challenges of higher education and beyond.
ISC Program (Grades 11-12)
The ISC curriculum offers a wide range of subjects that allow students to pursue their academic interests and career aspirations. We provide personalised guidance to help students select their streams and excel in their chosen fields, whether in the sciences, commerce, or humanities.
The Indian School Certificate Examination has been designed as an examination through the medium of English, in accordance with the recommendations of the New Education Policy 1986.
Private candidates are not permitted to appear for the examination.
The ICSE (Grade 10) and ISC (Grade 12) examinations are conducted by a reputed Board of Examinations with well-drawn syllabus in line with 10+2 pattern of other Boards and Universities. The ISC is recognized as equivalent to the present + 2 (Grade 12) pattern of Higher Secondary Education.
As ISC is an internationally reputed Board with high standards of quality, foreign universities accept this Board. Students excel in the entrance tests and interviews because of their excellent knowledge of English. Universities in the U.K. accepts ISC as equivalent to GCE.

Assessment Policy
Anand Niketan believes in Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). Assessment is “for” learning and not “of” learning. CCE is the basis for making inferences about learning and development of the students. It is the process of detecting, selecting, collecting, analyzing, interpreting and using information to enhance students learning.
- From Grade 6 onwards evaluation is carried out considering weekly/ unit tests, half yearly exam, annual exam and internal assessments.
- Attendance on prescribed important days also counts towards the students' marks.
- The assessment pattern for grade 6 to 9 is as given below:
ASSESSMENT PATTERN
Unit Test / Weekly Test – 1 | 25 Marks | Unit Test 2 / Weekly Test – 2 | 25 Marks |
---|---|---|---|
– | – | Internal Assessments | 10 Marks |
– | – | Internal Assessments | 10 Marks |
Half Year Exam | 50 Marks | Internal Assessments | 80 Marks |
Total | 75 Marks | Internal Assessments | 125 Marks |
The annual consolidated result is calculated out of 200 marks and then averaged to 100.
Students writing the ICSE and ISC Board Examination are expected to observe the following rules:
- The minimum attendance required to qualify for the board exam is 75%. Any student absent for more than the prescribed days without valid reason will not be permitted to appear for the exam.
- Students must appear for certain tests and examinations and preliminary examinations before writing the Board examination. The school will not recommend any student to appear for Board Examination unless he/she fulfills the school's academic requirement.
- Any student failing in the school exams will not be permitted to appear for the Board Examinations.
