The school is affiliated with CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations) and prepares students for  ICSE & ISC examinations.

Anand Niketan Shilaj, the first branch which now has blossomed into a Group of 11 Schools, was founded in 1996 in order to provide a
safe haven for students and parents who wanted learning, that was about : creativity, experience and a happy content fulfilled life. The
aim of the founder at that time was simple – to provide an environment and schooling to students where the school could right the
wrongs of rote learning, excessive and ineffective academic pressure from a young age, unnecessary competition when the real world
demanded collaboration etc. Anand Niketan imparts knowledge to children, develops their skills, instills in them sound values, and
nurtures their curiosity for lifelong learning. It sets the context for their future learning, and prepares them to be self-motivated and selfdirected
learners. It also shapes their physical and mental health, and provides them with the environment for holistic development and
well-being.the perfect balance of classroom education and education from the world around.

Motto
A good education is another name for happiness. To establish the tradition of eternal happiness & prosperity in every aspect of life.
Our priority is the happiness of our students. We want every child to feel safe and secure and endeavor to create a caring, supportive environment that enables each individual to develop and shine.
Mission

The school’s guiding mission is that cherishing one’s own culture and respecting that of others with sound values are central to a holistic
development. In an ever-evolving world, lifelong learning becomes a critical requirement for one and all. Thus, culture, values and
lifelong learning is the heart of our educational ethos.

.

Why Anand Niketan Shilaj (ANSH)?

When you choose Anand Niketan for your child, you do not choose just a school,

When a child steps through our doors we aim to take them on an exhilarating journey of learning, growth and self discovery.

Vision

The school’s vision is to provide a learning environment that encourages children to bring out the best in themselves and enables their all-round development through the joy of learning, enduring values and the celebration of diversity. The key pillars of our vision are learning through :

Our Pedagogy

Aims to develop in students a broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes, offering alternate pathways to students with varying needs, capacities and aptitudes, and supporting inclusive education.

Academic rigour and engagements beyond the classroom are integrated into our educational practices. We emphasis on understanding one’s own self, what makes one truly happy & content while preparing children to be equipped with 21st century skills to make them creative and critical thinkers , effective communicators and collaborators; lifelong learners. These important skills and attributes that they develop and build on within and beyond their days at school and through life. All the above elements in our curriculum model interact with each other and converge to bring out the best in every child and develop them holistically.

Purpose of Education
Philosophy

What a child needs is the kind of education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.Just like the word education is derived from the Latin word “educare” which means ‘to learn’ ‘to know’ and ‘to lead’ our philosophy is simple to lead out the hidden talent of a child. We believe a child is a seed with endless possibilities. We cultivate them with care, fertilize them with values, nourish them with love and affection and protect them through stability.

We provide an opportunity for children to explore the world around them autonomously & mindfully.

In order to develop the curriculum and learning materials for our happy students, Chairman Shri Kamal Mangalji engaged with experts around the country and the world to bring the most effective learning methods into our school. He believes that if we used effective methods, our students would learn effortlessly, without the stress or pressure that ineffective methods imposed on them. At that time this philosophy and methods were seen as “new” or “alternative”.He was merely experimenting because the status quo was not acceptable to him. As Anand Niketan entered its silver jubilee year in 2022, we can proudly say that our experiments and determination to find what works best for children paid off and we are teaching thousands of students across the Anand Niketan group, challenging concepts and skills in a happy and supportive environment.

Our students’ accomplishments over the years and our reputation as one of the top schools exemplify the uniqueness and relevance of our education model – an international school with an Indian mind, an Indian heart, and an Indian soul; a happy school that celebrates the holistic development and well-being of every learner.

Unique Features

Founder

Shri Kamal Mangal

My journey started when I saw the plight of my own children and went to visit some of the most philosophically sound schools in the country - Dakshinamurti (Bhavnagar), Rishi Valley (Andhra Pradesh), Shanti Niketan(Kolkata) and, Ashram school (Pondicherry). Learning from these schools helped me develop a child-centric and happiness filled philosophy for schooling. This was how the name Anand Niketan which means a “Home for Happiness” was derived.

First and foremost, our aim was that students coming to this school were happy in every part of their lives. This happiness did not come from doing easy and simple tasks but from engaging with challenging problems even as the support they received from the teachers made it a joyful and interesting journey. Increasing amounts of research and data today show that environments that are psychologically safe and joyful lead to the most amount of learning and improvement.

Shri Kamal Mangal ji believes, we are always guided by our foundational philosophy of providing children happy and rewarding learning experiences, while continuously incorporating the distinct features of a school of the future, so we foster in them the 21st century skills: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. His constant endeavor is to identify children's interests early on and support them to build on their talents.

Director

Ms. Lamiya Shums

Ms Lamiya Shums began her foray into education first as a homemaker, raising three children. While her children grew up, her love for children and her passion for contributing to their development remained unchanged. Thus she began her career in Education in 2008 with the set up of Anand Niketan’s Kaparada Campus, a residential school for underprivileged tribal children in partnership with the Central Government.

Today Ms. Shums is the Director and Trustee of multiple branches under the Anand Niketan Group of Schools: Two schools in Kaprada and one each in Bharuch, Jaipur and Shilaj. She also handles one more rural school in the tiny village of Nargol in South Gujarat. Of the above she has been instrumental in setting up the Kaparada, Bharuch, Jaipur and Nargol campuses. Ms Shums steers the various branches of Anand Niketan in tune with the philosophy of Shri Kamal Mangal, Founder and Chairman of Anand Niketan Group of Schools. A believer in doing whatever is best for her students, teachers, and staff, she constantly endeavours to build a culture of trust, creativity and excellence in each of the branches she leads.

Ms Shums brings with her a mindset of giving and contributing to society. Under her leadership, Anand Niketan has started various initiatives that serve the underprivileged sections of society and is doing wonderful work through them.

My Vision

Anand Niketan, as the name suggests, is a place of great joy and happiness. It is the aim of each and every staff member here to ensure that our students are joyful whenever they are in school. However, we make a clear distinction between the simple happiness that comes from doing the easy and comfortable things and the deep joy that engulfs us when we step out of our comfort zone, take risks, put in the sweat and tears and amaze everyone around us. That is the kind of joy we want our students to behold during their school life. We want them to anticipate and accept the grave discomfort that comes from doing the right thing even when and especially when they are alone. We want them to feel enriched not by taking from the world but by contributing to it!

Our philosophy has evolved from the belief that any artificial content or curriculum imposed on children that is not part of their context only damages them cognitively, because children do not differentiate between learning, living, leisure and work. This is a categorization imposed by modern education and adults. For a child, life is one integral experience.
School life at Anand Niketan respects these basic tenets of learning for children and ensures that life experiences at Anand Niketan are joyful, wholesome, integral and empowering to the children.
My vision & mission is to promote social, emotional & mindful learning and how to fascinate children by exploring the world around us and relating it to our own selves.
I invite all those who subscribe to this mission to join the Anand Niketan family.

Regards,
Ms. Lamiya Shums
